Viktor & Rolf FALL 2015 COUTURE

"Art comes to life in a gallery of surreal proportions,"

"A dress transforms into an artwork,

back into a dress and into an artwork again.

Poetry becomes reality, morphing back into fantasy."

"Action painting meets Baroque.

Paint is splattered – canvas is smashed.

Cracked textile frames unleash the silhouette and create a voluminous bend of reality.

Intricate motifs parade the catwalk,

transforming Golden Age paintings with the rawness and spontaneity of action painting.

The painterly gesture is achieved through trompe l'oeil techniques:

each artwork is executed in a complex layering of laser-cut jacquards,

embroideries and appliqués."

Christine and the Queens - Paradis Perdus

Directed by duo J.A.C.K.
Costume design by Simon Porte Jacquemus

“The pink suit is the real protagonist of the video,”

 “It had to grow.
To be alive.
It had to make me feel too old and then too young, too little and then too big. I’m lost in it.”

Paradis Perdus

Dans ma veste de soie rose
Je déambule morose
Le crépuscule est grandiose

Heartless, how could you be so heartless

Dandy un peu maudit un peu vieilli
Dans ce luxe qui s’effondre
Te souviens-tu quand je chantais dans les caves de Londres
Un peu noyé dans la fumée
Ce rock sophistiqué
Toutes les nuits tu restais là

Heartless, how could you be so heartless

Bandit un peu maudit un peu vieilli
Les musiciens sont ridés
Et ce clavier, comme c’est joli, j’essaie de me rappeler
Encore une fois les accords de
Ce rock qui bétonnait
Comme les anglais

Heartless, how could you be so heartless…

In the night I hear them talk
The coldest story ever told
Somewhere far along his road he lost his soul
To a woman so heartless

Veronique Branquinho Pre-Spring/Resort 2016

"Dresses"

"Freedom"

"A return to simplicity and to an uncomplicated lifestyle"

 Veronique Branquinho x Ronald Stoops

"I need a really simple pace in my life.
I just long for simple, authentic things.
That’s why I said with this collection,
instead of making a whole story,
let’s just focus on 15 dresses.
This is how it started – with a return to simplicity.
I think that there was a feeling of nature that was connected to that.
That’s why we decided to go to a forest with the girls and the dresses.
Like with my A/W15 collection,
there are words hidden in the dresses:
love, hope and faith.
And in a skirt there is "wild at heart",
like the song or the movie by David Lynch,
which I really love.
It’s also a really nice state of mind —
it’s an option to be wild at heart.
To be free. Freedom from the rules."

"It’s always been a twisted relationship between fashion and the industry.
It’s a creative thing,
but it seems like all the figures and numbers have taken over.
And I think we need to find a balance.
I think when I started I was much more confident about designing and
now it’s about rules.
This collection was an emotional thing;
I asked myself,
'where do I come from?
When was I really happy?'
Because I am happy in the moment of creation,
and I really love it,
but this whole thing is tough.
Especially because,
even if I'm good,
I'm still just a little studio;
I have nothing to compare with the big brands.
I’m not really playing on the same field."

"One of the things I said to myself when we started was that
I really need to find a way that I feel happy working in the industry,
but also that I connected with people that I love,
I trust. I just want to be surrounded by them,
in both life and work.
It makes it so much better.
I need this to be anchored.
I love what I do — I love my job.
Because I am happy in the moment of creation."

About MOVEment

MOVEment: Where fashion, dance and film unite

“There has always been an incredible historical dialogue between fashion and dance,
because they are both art forms that deal with pushing boundaries and
because they both deal with the body.
For the video age that we are in,
I wanted to make a survey uniting the best of fashion,
dance and film for a series of performance pieces,
commissioned for the screen and not really about the live element.
How would that change the dynamics?
It was really important for me to partner with Alistair Spalding
and the team at Sadler’s Wells for their expert counsel on making these pairings.
Some were blind dates and some were existing relationships,
but all were paired to bring something new and original to the table.”

Re;define

" My work involves the physical manifestation of emotional reality. Thus, the invisible becomes visible; the normal, abnormal; and the familiar, unfamiliar. Ordinary life is an endless source of fascination to me in its ritualistic objects and behavior."
